Fall Break Camp

Autumn Adventures Fall Break Camp

No plans for fall break? Don’t fret; Ijams has a fun solution your children ages 6-12 when school’s out—get them outside!

Give your children the ultimate Fall Break experience that opens their eyes to the beauty and wonder of the changing seasons. The crisp, cool air and spectacular colors of autumn make this one of most enjoyable times of year to explore Ijams' 315+ acres of protected wildlife habitat, trails, scenic overlooks, limestone features, nature playscapes, creeks, Mead’s Quarry and the Tennessee River.

Fall Break campers will examine signs of autumn, investigate plants and animals preparing for winter, catch falling leaves, build and play in leaf piles, and more! Campers also will enjoy many of the same activities from Ijams' Summer Nature Adventure Camps,* including:

  • Hiking

  • Rock Scrambling/Bouldering

  • Canoeing

  • Fishing

  • Pond/Creek Exploration

  • Insect Collection

  • Birdwatching (with an emphasis on fall migration)

  • Plant and Animal Identification

  • Navigation/Orienteering

  • Solo, Sensory, and Awareness Activities

  • Wilderness/Survival Skills (e.g., fire making, shelter building, etc.)

  • Live Animal Presentations

  • Arts and Crafts

  • And More!

* NOTE: Although Ijams staff try to include all of the above activities in camp, there will be some variation based on weather and other factors.

As with all Ijams camps, Fall Break Camp is led by an amazing staff that loves to teach and recreate in the outdoors. It is Ijams' goal to reconnect children with the natural world, all the while fostering individual confidence, group cooperation, outdoor skills, and environmental responsibility among campers.

Ijams Spring Break Camp is open to children ages 6 to 12 years old. While Ijams makes every attempt to group campers with children of similar ages, Ijams cannot guarantee that this will be the case. Depending on enrollment, the staff may choose to mix age groups in order to build community and encourage mentorship among campers. Camper groupings are always at the discretion of Ijams staff.

In addition to age, registration and attendance for camps are based on participants being able to reasonably meet the requirements listed in Ijams' Essential Eligibility Criteria.

The weekly fee for Fall Break Camp is $250 if registering online or $275 if registering in person or over the phone. Ijams members (Family Level or higher) will receive a $15 discount.
