About the Event

**NOTE: This session is limited to 15 participants. If you are not registered and there are 15 participants, you will be asked to come another time or will be given a different assignment.

November's Weed Warriors Workday focuses on the behavior, characteristics, and history of one of Ijams' top four problematic invasive plants, winter creeper. Volunteers will learn to identify winter creeper and be trained in removal techniques. The goal of this workday is to remove this noxious invader, giving native trees a chance to thrive.

Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants to protect themselves from thorns and poison ivy. BRING WATER! Tools and gloves will be provided.

Meeting Spot: Mead's Quarry Parking Lot (Adventure Camp) 3518 Island Home Ave. Knoxville, TN 37920

This workday qualifies for the Ijams Native Landscape Certification program. To learn more about this program, email klivar@ijams.org.

Those who are under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult for all volunteer opportunities. Those who are 16 and 17 can participate in public volunteer workdays as long as they have a parent's or guardian's permission. Please email volunteer@ijams.org for the permission sheet. Thank you!

Ijams Weed Warriors workdays are designed to give volunteers hands-on experience with invasive species removal techniques, expand their knowledge of invasive plants, learn about native replacement options, and more. This program is made possible by Aslan Foundation.
