About the Event

**NOTE: This session is limited to 15 participants. If you are not registered and there are 15 participants, you will be asked to come another time or will be given a different assignment.

Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) is a troublesome invasive originally from Europe and Asia. Because it emerges in early spring, garlic mustard will outcompete native species for moisture, sunlight, and vital nutrients. Help the Ijams Natural Resource team remove garlic mustard and other invasive species from River Landing at this Ijams Weed Warriors workday!

Volunteers will meet at the Quarry overflow parking lot across from the Mead's Quarry main parking lot. Wear closed-toed shoes, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants to protect yourself from thorns and poison ivy. BRING WATER!

Ijams Weed Warriors workdays are designed to give volunteers hands-on experience with invasive species removal techniques and expand their knowledge of invasive plants, their history and impact on native habitats, native replacement options, and more. This program is made possible by the Aslan Foundation.

Please bring the following: water, appropriate clothing/footwear, and a mask if you have one (the Ijams Visitor Center has simple disposable masks if you come without one). Masks will only be necessary when volunteers are within six feet of each other. If you are exhibiting any sign of fever or illness, do not participate in this workday. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Meeting Spot: Mead's Quarry Overflow Lot
