About the Event
**NOTE: This session is limited to 15 participants. If you are not registered and there are 15 participants, you will be asked to come another time or will be given a different assignment.
Meet the Ijams Natural Resource Management team at Mead's Quarry Parking Lot by 9:30 am and then hike to Imerys Trail, where you'll help tackle winter creeper, one of Ijams' top four invasive plant species. Volunteers will learn to identify winter creeper and be trained in removal techniques. The goal of this workday is to remove this noxious invader, giving native plants a chance to thrive.
Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants to protect themselves from thorns and poison ivy. BRING WATER! Tools and gloves will be provided.
Meeting Spot: Mead's Quarry Parking Lot (Ijams Adventure Camp), 3518 Island Home Ave. Knoxville, TN 37920
This workday qualifies for the Ijams Native Landscape Certification program. To learn more about this program, email klivar@ijams.org.
