About the Event
**NOTE: This session is limited to 10 participants. If you are not registered and there are 10 participants, you will be asked to come another time or will be given a different assignment.
Volunteers will meet at Mead's Quarry Adventure Camp and then hike up Tharps Trace to build a new section of trail to address the erosion issues present on Ijams' existing trail. Volunteers will learn how to cut, grade, and slope contour a trail. Long-sleeved shirts and pants are recommended to protect from thorns and poison ivy. Bring water!
Please bring the following: water, appropriate clothing/footwear, and a mask if you have one (the Ijams Visitor Center has simple disposable masks if you come without one). Masks will only be necessary when we are within six feet of each other. If you are exhibiting any sign of fever or illness, do not participate in this workday. Tools and gloves will be provided.
Meeting Spot: At Mead's Quarry Parking Lot (Adventure Camp)
3518 Island Home Ave. Knoxville, TN 37920
