SPECIAL EVENT: Knoxville Shakespeare: "Measure for Measure" 10/6/22

Shakespeare's Measure for Measure is a "dark" comedy about a man, new in his power and deep in his religion, who forces a city to its knees and a woman to the end of her faith. Angelo sentences Claudio to death for impregnating his longtime sweetheart. When Isabella, Claudio’s sister and a soon-to-be nun, begs for Angelo to change his mind, he offers her a choice: Claudio can die, or she can give up her chastity to Angelo in exchange for Claudio's life.

Join Tennessee Stage Company for this fall production, produced in cooperation with Ijams Nature Center,  the new permanent home for Knoxville Shakespeare (formerly called Shakespeare on the Square).

Performances are on the Ijams Visitor Center lawn; lawn chairs and/or blankets are recommended. Perfomances will move indoors in case of rain. Doors open at 6:30 pm; the show starts at 7.

This special preview performance of Measure for Measure is open to the public as a "Pay What You Can" show. Proceeds support both nonprofit organizations.
