SPECIAL EVENT: Knoxville Shakespeare: "Measure for Measure" 10/21/22

Shakespeare's Measure for Measure is a "dark" comedy about a man, new in his power and deep in his religion, who forces a city to its knees and a woman to the end of her faith. Angelo sentences Claudio to death for impregnating his longtime sweetheart. When Isabella, Claudio’s sister and a soon-to-be nun, begs for Angelo to change his mind, he offers her a choice: Claudio can die, or she can give up her chastity to Angelo in exchange for Claudio's life.

Join Tennessee Stage Company for this fall production, produced in cooperation with Ijams Nature Center,  the new permanent home for Knoxville Shakespeare (formerly called Shakespeare on the Square).

Performances are on the Ijams Visitor Center lawn; lawn chairs and/or blankets are recommended. Perfomances will move indoors in case of rain;  an Oct. 16 matinee also will be performed indoors. Doors open at 6:30 pm; the show starts at 7.

Admission is $15 for adults. Four-pack ticket packages are available for $50. Children in Knox County and surrounding county school systems qualify for the Penny4Arts Program, which allows these children to come free-of-charge based on these guidelines:

• All children ages 5-15 must be accompanied by a paying adult (age 18 and older) in a ratio not to exceed three children per one adult.
• Proof of Knox and surrounding county residency may be required.
• At least one in a group of up to four students ages 16-18 must purchase a regular adult admission/ticket for the group to be able to participate in Penny4Arts.
• Penny4Arts tickets must be included in your reservation.
