Join Ijams for a fantastic, all-ages concert with the Knoxville Jazz Youth Orchestra on the Visitor Center lawn on Wednesday, May 13 with special guest and acclaimed trumpeter, Joe Jordan! The night will be filled with music that really swings, so grab a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy some jazz classics!
The Knoxville Jazz Youth Orchestra is a 20 member big band of high-school aged musicians from around the Knoxville area. The band auditions in September, rehearses once a week for a couple hours at Joy of Music School and performs at least monthly between November and May. The KJYO is part of the educational arm of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, and is directed by KJO lead trombonist Tom Lundberg. The youth band has performed yearly at IJAMS and has recently incorporated guest artists into the event.
