SEASONAL EVENT Woodcock Display (Family Program)

Recommended for ages 8 and up

Description: Ijams field agents have reported that woodcocks are currently engaging in their display flight at Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area! This seasonal event only happens for a few weeks every February, and you can be a part of it. We will walk a short distance down to the greenway to their reported display sites. While there's not guarantee we'll see woodcocks, we'll learn about their lifecycles and how they perform this entrancing display. 

Materials Participants Should Bring: Good walking shoes, water, binoculars (Ijams can provide binoculars as needed), weather appropriate clothing, and a flashlight. 

Information to Note: This is a bird walk and we will go on trails with roots, rocks, and some elevation change. Arrive ready to walk approximately 1 mile.

Directions: We will meet at the Forks of the River Wildlife Management Area parking lot off of McClure Ln.

No walk-ins will be accepted. Every participant must have a ticket. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult

Ijams awards full refunds for any cancellations up to 7 days before a program, or if Ijams cancels a program due to inclement weather. Refunds are not awarded for programs with fees of $5 or less for any reason. Tickets are non-transferable.
