Museum of Infinite Outcomes presents SIGHTSEERS, a 4-week sci-art experience. Thursday, July 20 - August 10, 5p to 7p @ Mead's Quarry. $45/piece or $150 for full series.

July 20 SCOUTING (booking & plant-pressing) Start your journey into sightseeing by learning how to make your own journal to document your investigations in the living world. Students will explore the basics of bookmaking while they stitch together their own book for the class, and then practice collecting and pressing plants as a method of note-taking. 

July 27 SOUND (bioacoustics & the practice of listening) Our world pulses with life! Explore the sounds of the living world while learning how tools such as a hydrophone, ultrasonic detector, and parabolic microphone can unlock a world of frequencies beyond our natural limits. Using their nature notebook from the first class, students will practice listening as a method of note-taking. All materials are provided. Open to all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Aug 3 SEEING (en plein air observations & identifications) Using your nature notebook and a curated selection of field guides, students will participate on guided hikes and practice the art of identifying and drawing what you see. While the living world is always in flux, we can document our time in the woods to notice patterns and make friends. All materials are provided. Open to all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Aug 10 STEWARDSHIP (scouting & screenprinting) When we learn the names of plants or listen to the sound of a stream, we are building material relationships. Kinship with the living world is the first step in conservation! How could we preserve a world that we do not feel materially connected to? Learn how to screenprint your own SIGHTSEERS patch as a celebration of stewardship in our final class. All materials are provided. Open to all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
