Description: Let’s talk about how your actions impact wildlife and how you can keep you, your pets and wildlife living together happily and healthily! Dr. Tania Dawant is a veterinarian working on her PhD in disease ecology at UT. This lecture will help you understand how to help reduce disease spread and what diseases you should be looking out for with local wildlife. We will address diseases of concern as well as what we can do as a community to reduce health risks associated with human/animal interactions.
Materials Participants Should Bring: A spirit of learning and discussion! This lecture is meant to spark discussion and questions from you, and an opportunity to ask someone in the field any lingering questions. Dr. Dawant will be bringing some helpful guides and tools for those interested in getting a deeper understanding of the diseases discussed.Â
Information to Note: This is an indoor lecture and all participants are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Chairs will be set up to ecourage physical distancing.
Location: This program meets at the Ijams Nature Center, and will split into smaller birding groups to cover more ground. Each will include an Ijams staff member or volunteer to lead the group.
