Ijams Field Day: Fungi SOLD OUT

Recommended for ages 18 and up.

Description: Get ready for a FUN(gi) time! This field course will take us out into the forest in search of the diverse mushrooms and fungi that are hiding in plain sight. We will seek out coral mushrooms, bird nest fungi, polypores, boletes, chanterelles, and whatever else is fruiting in the woods around Ijams Nature Center. This class will delve into the different identification techniques for the plethora of fungi found in East Tennessee.

Materials Participants Should Bring: Comfortable trail walking shoes, a journal to take notes, hat, water bottle, snacks, and sunscreen. Optional: camera, binoculars, hand lens, and fungi field guides.

Location: This program meets outside the Ijams Visitor Center. We will spend the entirety of the class outdoors.

No walk-ins will be accepted. Every participant must have a ticket. Ijams awards full refunds for any cancellations up to 7 days before a program, or if Ijams cancels a program due to inclement weather. Refunds are not awarded for programs with fees of $5 or less for any reason. Tickets are non-transferable.
