About the Event
Recommended for ages 18 and up.
Description: The Christmas Bird Count has been conducted by the National Audubon Society for over 100 years. It's a critical tool to understand how bird populations change over time, and these data can only be collected with your help!Â
Join this fun winter tradition and help report on the bird species at Ijams and Forks of the River. No prior bird knowledge is required; each group will have an Ijams staff member to help with identification.
Materials Participants Should Bring: Weather appropriate clothing, binoculars, snacks, a small field guide, closed-toed shoes, hat, and a hands-free way to carry everything.
Information to Note: Ijams has binoculars available in case you do not have your own pair.
Location: This program meets at the Ijams Nature Center, and will split into smaller birding groups to cover more ground. Each will include an Ijams staff member or volunteer to lead the group.
