Ijams Field Day: Birding

**This program is 18+**

Join an Ijams naturalist for this immersive, 4-hour workshop to explore the secret world of birds! We'll spend time focusing on bird anatomy, taxonomy & language, and species identification for common (and not so common!) birds of East Tennessee. Through in-field exploration, you'll come away with newfound talent for identifying birds both both sight and sound, meet certain birds up close and personal, and have an expert grasp on the life and migration history of the numerous species which call East TN their breeding territory.  

Participants are asked to bring the following:

1. Notebook

2. Pen or pencil

3. Water & snacks 

4. Binoculars (binoculars may also be borrowed from Ijams for this course)

5. Wear weather-appropriate clothing & comfortable hiking shoes

Ages: This program is designed for ages 18+

Accessibility: Participants can expect to travel a distance of up to 4 miles during the duration of the program over uneven surfaces that may include rocks, roots, and gravel. This program includes various stopping points.

Parking: Parking for this Ijams Education Course is free for all participants. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the course begins to obtain a free parking pass upon check-in. Refund Policy: No walk-ins will be accepted. Every participant must have a ticket. Ijams only awards full refunds for any cancellations up to 7 days before a program, or if Ijams cancels a program due to inclement weather. Refunds are not awarded for programs with fees of $5 or less for any reason. Tickets are non-transferable.
