About the Event

Recommended for ages 8 and up

Description: This is the inaugural year of the Odolympics, a competition held across the western hemisphere to survey and catalog as many dragonflies as possible. You'll to join Team Ijams as we catch and photograph the many wonderful dragonflies that call Ijams home. As we net dragonflies, we'll learn how to identify them, a bit about their lives, and why they are an important part of Ijams' ecosystem.

Materials Participants Should Bring: Smartphone or camera, walking shoes, a journal to take notes, weather appropriate clothing, water bottle, sunscreen, and a snack.

Information to Note:  We will be catching and handling dragonflies, so individuals with severe insect phobias should be aware. Dragonflies like warm sunny areas, so be prepared to be hot during the class. If you have a smartphone, please download the iNaturalist app for this class.

Location: This program meets at Ijams Nature…
