HF Event: Hummingbirds: Small but Mighty Marvels

Geared Toward: Adults and Families; Ages 7+

Hummingbirds truly are the small but mighty marvels of the avian world! Although some weigh less than a penny and hatch from eggs the size of Tic Tacs, they also can stop instantly in flight, hover, and even fly backwards. Join an Ijams naturalist to discover the wonders of these flying jewels as you observe them at flowers and feeders near the Ijams Visitor Center.

NOTE: This program will involve slowly hiking on paved and unpaved trails near the Visitor Center, up to 1 mile in total length.

Space is limited. Preregistration required. 

Participants will meet in the covered entryway of the Visitor Center. 

Bring binoculars and a field guide to birds, if you have your own. Ijams will provide loaner binoculars. Participants should also bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water, and a hands-free way to carry these items.
