Winter Explorer Camp

It's always a bit tricky to plan for winter/holiday break. Ijams has the perfect solution for kids ages 6-12!

2025 Winter Explorer Camp

Give your camper age 6-12 the ultimate beginning to their Winter Break with a two day camp experience on December 22-23 and open their eyes to the beauty and wonder of nature in the winter! Winter break campers will search for signs of animal activity in winter and celebrate the beginning winter by learning basic winter survival skills and winter ecology, with an emphasis on how plants, birds, and other animals use their unique adaptations and keen survival skills to endure the harsh conditions of winter months.

Winter explorer campers will engage in many of the following activities*.

  • Hiking

  • Searching for animal tracks and traces

  • Pond/creek exploration

  • Insect collection

  • Birdwatching 

  • Fire making & shelter building

  • Live animal presentations

  • Winter Solstice Celebration

  • Arts and crafts

  • And more!

* NOTE: Although Ijams staff try to include all of the above activities in camp, there will be some variation based on weather and other factors.

CAMP HOURS AND RATES

Regular hours for Ijams Winter Explorer Camp are Monday, December 22, through Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 9 am-3 pm each day. 

​

The cost for this program is $160.

​

Camp fees include:

  • All camp activities

  • Use of all necessary recreation equipment

​​

NOTE: Lunch is NOT provided by Ijams. All participants must bring a lunch and two snacks to camp each day.

​

Ijams also offers After Care sessions for Winter Break Camp.

  • After Care sessions are available for both days from 3-5 pm. The fee for After Care is $60 per person for both days, or $30 for one day. 

  • After Care sessions include both structured and self-guided activities.

NOTE: You are welcome to sign up for After Care in advance or let the staff know during drop-off that you need it.

Camp Specials

  • Ijams Member Discount: Current Ijams members at the Explorer level or higher receive a 5% discount on camp programs, including After Care. If you have an active Explorer level membership or higher, use code Member2025 during registration. Your discount will be revoked if your membership is not active at the time of registration. 

  • Multi-Child Discount: When registering multiple children, save $10 per session for each additional child in the same household​​
