Preschool Summer Camp

Don't wait! Spots fill quickly for the Ijams summer day camp specifically designed for ages 3-5!

Summer Camp Is for All Ages!

Nature Preschool Day Camp focuses on child-led, age-appropriate, and experiential learning for children ages 3-5. Most of the day is spent outdoors, exploring nature and making a strong connection with the environment. Children learn through play, discovery, and inquiry. Not only do children develop a solid foundation for lifelong learning but also cultivate a love of nature that is the basis for a conservation ethic later in life.

Each session is a combination of outdoor play, nature hikes, and animal presentations. Special crafts, art projects, and/or hands-on activities throughout the week allow campers to explore different topics based on their interests.

Preschool camp is held Monday through Friday from 9 am-12 pm

WEEKLY CAMP OFFERINGS

Week 1: June 7-11 Little Silly Scientists

Little explorers will learn about and practice the scientific process. They’ll ask questions, do experiments, and test theories as they explore concepts such as sink vs. float, magnetic vs. nonmagnetic, and what plants need to grow.

Week 2: June 14-18 Preschool Camp ROCKS

This hands-on week of camp will focus on all the amazing geology that Ijams has to offer! Can rocks move? How do mountains form? Campers will find the answers as they learn the different ways summer camp "rocks!”

Week 3: June 21-25 It's the Circle of Life

Campers will discover that the Circle of Life is more than just a powerful Disney song! Whether studying the life cycles of different plants and animals or learning how different organisms are connected, campers will explore the wonderful web of nature.

Week 4: June 28-July 2 Down 'n' Dirty

Kids will learn that nature can be messy...and that's what makes it fun! This is not a fancy clothes kind of week. Campers will get down and dirty while making mud pies, painting with mud, and crawling on the ground in search of tiny bugs, worms, and snails.

Week 5: July 5-9 Fuzzy and Feathered Friends

This is the perfect session of camp for children who are fascinated by furry and feathered creatures! They’ll learn the interesting and important characteristics of vertebrates. Why do some mammals lay eggs? Do some fish really fly?

Week 6: July 12-16 It's Easy Being Green

Campers will explore the flowers and trees that grow around Ijams. They’ll learn about life cycles and will experience the plant life cycle in action while planting and harvesting in the garden. Nature crafts and stories will introduce discussions about caring for the environment.

Week 7: July 19-23 Wet ‘n’ Wild

Little explorers will get up close and personal with the wonders of water! They’ll explore Toll Creek and wade into wetlands to discover plants and animals that call these places home. As a bonus, they’ll enjoy water games and run through the sprinkler in this "cool" week of camp.

Week 8: July 26-30 Creepy Crawlies

If your wild child likes bugs, this is the week for them! Campers will turn over logs, dip net for aquatic insects, and study the invertebrate world up close with a magnifying lens.
