About the Event

**NOTE: This workday is limited to 10 participants. If you are not registered and there are 10 participants, you will be asked to come another time or given a different assignment.

Volunteers will join Ijams for the first day of the annual Weed Wrangle. Volunteers will hike down to the section of River Trail that has been closed to remove invasive privet and honeysuckle, opening up the view to the Tennessee River in preparation of Ijams' upcoming trail reopening. Long-sleeved shirts, closed-toed shoes, and pants are recommended to protect from thorns and poison ivy. Bring water! Terrain is difficult.

Please bring the following: water, appropriate clothing/footwear, and a mask if you have one (the Ijams Visitor Center has simple disposable masks if you come without one). Masks will only be necessary when we are within six feet of each other. If you are exhibiting any sign of fever or illness, do not participate in this workday. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Meeting Spot: Ijams Visitor Center: 2915 Island Home Ave, Knoxville, TN 37920, USA

Those who are under 16 years old cannot volunteer by themselves at Ijams and must be accompanied by an adult for all volunteer opportunities.

Those who are 16 & 17 can participate in public volunteer workdays as long as they have a parent's or guardian's permission. Please email mcollins@ijams.org for the permission sheet. Thank you!
