Weed Warriors Workday at Universal Pond 5/21/22 (REGISTRATION REQUIRED)

**NOTE: This session is limited to 15 participants. If you are not registered and there are 15 participants, you will be asked to come another time or will be given a different assignment.

Parrot-feather is an aquatic plant that was commonly sold for aquaria and aquatic gardens, it has escaped becoming invasive in ponds and other calm water bodies, such as the Universal Pond. 

Volunteers will meet at the Ijams Visitor's Center.   Waders will be provided but feel free to bring your own. Wear closed-toed shoes, long-sleeved shirts, and pants to protect yourself from thorns and poison ivy. BRING WATER!

Ijams Weed Warriors workdays are designed to give volunteers hands-on experience with invasive species removal techniques and expand their knowledge of invasive plants, their history, and their impact on native habitats, native replacement options, and more. This program is made possible by the Aslan Foundation.

Please bring the following: water, appropriate clothing/footwear, and a mask if you have one (the Ijams Visitor Center has simple disposable masks if you come without one). Masks will only be necessary when volunteers are within six feet of each other. If you are exhibiting any sign of fever or illness, do not participate in this workday. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Those who are under 16 years old cannot volunteer by themselves at Ijams; they must be accompanied by an adult for all volunteer opportunities.

Those who are 16 & 17 can participate in public volunteer workdays as long as they have a parent's or guardian's permission. Please email sshorey@ijams.org for the permission sheet. Thank you!
