In 1910, Harry (HP) Ijams, an illustrator and ornithologist, and his wife, Alice Yoe Ijams, an avid gardener, purchased 20 acres of land along the Tennessee River to raise their four girls. Alice became Knoxville's leading horticulturist and its "First Lady of Garden Clubs." HP placed the rocks and Alice designed an extensive woodland garden to showcase native wildflowers on the Ijams family homesite.
Help the Ijams Natural Resource team remove English ivy and other invasive species from this beautiful, historic space!
Volunteers will meet at the parking lot near the Miller Building (Ijams family homesite). To get there, enter Ijams' main entrance and immediately turn left on the interior access road to get to the parking…
