About the Event
This program is part of the 2026 City Nature Challenge and is considered a volunteer opportunity - and anyone can join!
Join in on the fun during the 2026 City Nature Challenge! During this program, you will be assisting Ijams staff members in recording observations (ie: snapping photos, uploading data, and seeking out a variety of species) in iNaturalist during an approachable, fun-filled hike on the trails. You’ll learn the basics of fungi and lichen (and fern and moss) anatomy and identification, as well as their pivotal role in our ecosystems, all while using the iNaturalist app to make critical observations and be a community scientist!
Ages: This program is designed for ages 16+
Accessibility: Participants can expect to travel a distance of up to 2.5 miles during the duration of the program over uneven surfaces that may include rocks, roots, and gravel. This program includes various stopping points.
