About the Event
Join Ijams Nature Center and The Big Camera for a FREE creative and educational pop-up workshop all about lumen prints, where you can make your own to take with you.
Lumen prints are an early photographic process from the 1830s, when the British father of photography, Henry Fox Talbot, made “photogenic drawings." Plants were placed on light-sensitive paper and exposed to the sun. The result was a negative image called a photogram, but the image slowly faded away. Today, this cameraless process uses black-and-white photo paper to create colorful images that are then chemically fixed to preserve the image.
This is a free community event and all ages are welcome.
Botanical Connections 2022 is funded by a generous grant from The East Tennessee Foundation.
