Learn to make colorful prints using the sun and expired photo paper and film. A simple lumen print is made by placing botanicals on light sensitive paper and exposed to the sun. Vinegar, salt and spices can be added to enhance the colors. Phytograms are also made in the sun but botanical developers are used to cause a reaction between the plant and the paper that produces dramatic results.
In this workshop you will learn about the history of this process and many ways to produce colorful prints using black and white photographic paper and
film. The Big Camera will share their recipes to make and use botanical developers to enhance the images. The final print will be fixed using darkroom chemistry to preserve the image. Everyone will leave with a sampling of expired photo paper to continue experimenting with sun prints.
Tickets for this workshop are $55 and includes all materials needed. You must reserve your space ahead of time. Walk up tickets will not be available.
