CANCELLED: Woodcock Walk - Guided Birding Program

It's Woodcock season! Join an Ijams naturalist at Forks of the River WMA to witness the miraculous flight display put on by these absurd, football-shaped birds.

Throughout the evening, participants will learn how to identify these ridiculous feathered friends by sight and sound, understand their history and life cycle, and finally answer the question on everyone's mind: why do they look so darn silly? (And yes, there are good reasons!)

Ages: This program is designed for ages 12+

Accessibility: Participants can expect to travel a distance of up to 2 miles during the duration of the program over paved multi-use trails. 

Important Information: The Perimeter trail is defined as the Will Skelton Greenway, Whaley Trail, and West Perimeter Trail. The Perimeter Trail is open year-round. All other trails are open only to hunters from Sept.1-May 31.

Directions: Turn left into the gravel parking lot at the end of 3140 McClure Lane.

Disclaimer: American Woodcocks have been reliably spotted at this location for years, but that is no guaruntee that they will be seen during a progam.

No walk-ins will be accepted. Every participant must have a ticket. Ijams awards full refunds for any cancellations up to 7 days before a program, or if Ijams cancels a program due to inclement weather. Refunds are not awarded for programs with fees of $5 or less for any reason. Tickets are non-transferable.
