2023 Ijams River Rescue: Bicentennial Park NEW LOCATION behind New Midland Plaza - SOLD OUT

The site is suitable for young children. This site focuses on land/shoreline. Volunteers may have the opportunity to wade in the water. If you have waders or tall rain boots, bring them. 

Let's make the Greater Knoxville Area a cleaner, healthier, more beautiful place! Volunteer for the 2023 Ijams River Rescue, an annual communitywide event when 400-1,000 volunteers will spend a few hours removing trash from the Tennessee River and its tributaries. Volunteer by yourself or with your family, friends, corporate team, scout troop or church group! Bags and gloves are provided, and each location has site captains to assist volunteers.

Greenway Along Pistol Creek behind New Midland Plaza

• Meet at 10 am at old parking lot on the back side of New Midland Plaza at intersection of Home Ave. and Gill St. This is just a short drive from the former Bicentennial Park site via McCammon. The Human Services Dept (301 Home Ave.) is at the intersection of McCammon and Home. Home Ave. dead-ends into the parking lot where you'll meet. Lat/Long: 35.760055, -83.979039

PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in registering a GROUP for this event, please have EACH PERSON in your group sign up individually so that they can receive a waiver and contact information. This is especially important when trying to communicate specific instructions for parking and where to meet, and if inclement weather causes the event to be rescheduled for April 22!

Closer to the event, everyone registered will receive a reminder email, so be on the lookout. All participants must fill out a registration form, and all children under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian. Troop leaders, friends, and other relatives CANNOT sign waivers for participating children.
