100th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign

Anniversary Logo 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Ijams Family Legacy. H.P. and Alice Ijams truly were visionaries when they purchased 20-acres of undeveloped property in the heart of one of Knoxville's heavily industrialized areas. Over the years, the Ijams family, with a deep philosophy of education & conservation, developed the land into a natural showplace known as the Bird Sanctuary. Since then, Ijams Nature Center has increased in acreage, educational opportunities, and visitor experiences. Ijams is a natural treasure!

Ijams Expand to 275-acres!

Ross Marble Quarry In November Ijams opened the Ross Marble Quarry, including multi-use trails, undisturbed woodlands, rocky outcrops, a stunning quarry gorge, and multi-use trails. An unforgettable experience, the property echoes the rugged terrain of the Big South Fork. Combining Mead's and Ross Marble quarries creates an extensive post-industrial, natural area characterized by ongoing recovery efforts and natural reclamation.

 We need your support

New growth brings new challenges to Ijams' management resources. Ijams relies on 90% support from members of the community to protect and preserve green spaces and to enrich the lives of visitors. Your support is needed now to allow Ijams to grow, to thrive, and to serve the community for the next 100 years.

Join us in celebrating this special anniversary and help build a foundation of support for the future.
