21st Annual River Rescue

A Success Story!

River Rescue is a community wide program that coordinates the pick-up of debris and litter along the 50-mile shoreline of the Tennessee River from its headwaters to Fort Loudon Dam.

On April 10, 2010 1,054 River Rescue Volunteers collected 15 tons of trash and 95 tires from the Tennessee River Shoreline in Knox, Blount and Loudoun counties, improving the quality and vitality of local shorelines and parks, and the health and biodiversity of critical wildlife populations and habitats. Many Ijams staff members gave up their Saturday to be site captains for cleanup sites. Thanks to Kimberly Womack, Sally Judiscak, Sabrina DeVault, Kara Remington, Sarah Brobst, Jennifer Moore, Lyn Bales and Emily Boves for their hard work.
