Bug Night

Kids of all ages get a kick out of bugs, which is why Ijams has a full night of activities devoted to the creepy-crawly critters! Attendees begin by splitting into groups and attending a short talk on the biology and strategy of bug hunting. Next, the groups are sent out into the wild of Ijams’ pond, meadow and forests to collect their specimens. When attendees have collected their entomological treasures they can participate in the “Bug Beauty Contest” in which their bugs can compete for the title of Smallest, Largest, Ugliest, Prettiest or Most Unique bug. After winners are announced, Bug Night participants gather outside with their Bell jars and Tupperware for the big release. This is one of Ijams’ most popular events! In 2007, Bug Night will be Saturday, September 15.
