Members' newsletter gets fresh, new look

Spring is almost upon us and the season of re-birth is the perfect time to introduce something new. As you may have already noticed, Ijams Nature Center’s members' newsletter has been completely re-designed. Lyn Bales, our new editor/designer, has not only improved the visual appeal of the newsletter but has created a new vehicle to better inform you of all the monthly news and activities occurring at Ijams.

Previously, the newsletter was broadly oriented to upcoming programs and events. The new format will also encompass interesting news and timely information of what just occurred. As an example, please refer to the back page article covering recent visits by accomplished authors and an internationally known crane expert. It’s all in a day’s work for us as well as for our many generous volunteers. Although very much appreciated, volunteers’ often-tireless work goes unpublished. Therefore, we will begin bringing you updates on volunteer accomplishments as well as highlighting a new volunteer of the month plus timely volunteer opportunities.

Of course, some things will largely remain the same, particularly the newsletter’s reflection on the current season. All of our traditional and informative nature and wildlife articles written by our talented educational staff that compliments our regular programming will continue.

From now on, the newsletter will also be available in full color for those members requesting it via e-mail. To reduce costs and save trees we encourage as many members as possible to consider taking full advantage of this by switching to the electronic PDF version. Need I really mention that it’s also better for the environment? I thought not!

Please contact Lyn at lbales@ijams.org if you would like to receive the newsletter by e-mail or have any questions or comments about the new look.

As always, the newsletter is produced just for our members. We thank you warmly for your support and if you have any suggestions about content we would love to hear from you.

 Happy reading! – Paul James
