This month Ijams will host Artfully Ijams, the first ever nature and wildlife art show at the Nature Center. Artwork by local and regional artists, which was juried by a panel of local art experts, will be on public display throughout the Visitor Center April 7-29. The art is diverse and features a broad range of media such as oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, photography and even jewelry. The One Ton group of artists will round out the show with a series of three-dimensional pieces carved in pink marble and other stone. All artwork will be available for purchase at the Artfully Ijams silent auction on April 29. Each sale will benefit both the artist and Ijams Nature Center. We hope that you will find the time to visit the nature center and take a look at the art during the public showing period. In fact, the first weekend of Artfully Ijams is also the weekend of our Spring Plant Sale, held in conjunction with the Island Home Community Partnership (on Saturday, April 8). Please plan to come out and see the art and pick up some native plants and shrubs while you are here.
Here are two other art show dates
on which you might also consider joining us:

Opening – Thursday April 6, 6 p.m. Please join us and some of the artists for a reception to mark this inaugural art show. Light refreshment will be served. Free to all members. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Kelley Dodd at kdodd@ijams.org.
Silent Auction – Saturday April 29, 5:30
p.m. –8:00 p.m. At the close of the public showing Ijams will hold a special event featuring a silent auction to raise funds for the nature center. Tickets are $10 per person. Attendees will enjoy light refreshments including a cash bar, live music and, of course, the art. Look out for an invitation in the mail in early April.
Endangered Species Art Heralds New Exhibits
This year, the artwork submitted for Artfully Ijams features endangered and extinct species of animals. This subject ties in with two forthcoming exhibits, funded by our end of year appeal, that will be completed in the visitor center atrium this summer. Sincere thanks go out to all our members who generously supported that appeal. The exhibits will be educational, thought provoking and will have great visual impact. We hope that they will truly transform the feeling and use of the visitor center. Stay tuned for further details.
