Helen Thayer to visit Ijams

Author of 'Three Among the Wolves' will speak Dec. 4

Imagine spending an entire year living with wolves in the wild? What an adventure!

The sight of a wolf has instilled fear in man from the beginning of time. These often misunderstood creatures are both beautiful and fascinating. Thayer and her husband Bill traveled above the Arctic Circle to the Canadian Yukon territory where they lived within 100 feet of a wild wolf den. In addition to the book, "Three Among the Wolves" is a motivational program comprised of rare photography from their year-long study of the wolf family. It is also a remarkable story of wolves in the true wild state, with their pup care, hunting and social hierarchy explained.

Helen Thayer will be at Ijams on Thursday evening, December 4 at 7 p.m. to talk about her adventure and what she learned about the highly supportive social structure of the wild wolves. Thayer's visit is sponsored by Mast General Store.
