Fall Native Plant Sale features Ryan Gainey

The 23rd Annual Fall Native Plant Sale at Ijams Nature Center promises to be memorable. Internationally renowned and award-winning garden designer Ryan Gainey will be the special guest speaker. Gainey is often described as a visionary. His two-acre garden in Decatur, Georgia, has been featured in every major gardening publication in the United States and abroad. Visiting this paradise is a highlight each year for thousands of visitors.

Gainey will make two appearances in Knoxville. On Saturday, October 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. there will be a wine and cheese social hosted by Caesar and Dorothy Stair with a tour of their Gainey-designed Gardens. The next morning, Sunday, October 14, 10-11:30 a.m., Ijams will host a brunch, lecture and book signing at their Fall Native Plant Sale at the nature center. The cost of wine and cheese social is $30, cost of brunch, lecture and book signing is $30, and the cost of both together is $50.

The Ijams' Fall Native Plant Sale will feature local nurseries specializing in: native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees, herbs, bulbs and potted arrangements. Many vendors will also have garden related items: concrete statuaries, outdoor garden furniture, handmade soaps and salves, handmade pottery, handmade ironworks and wood carvings.

Plus, there will be have live music, vegetables fresh from the garden, children's activities, workshops, demonstrations, ask the expert booth, food and more. It's all great fun for the whole family.
